Karate is a Japanese traditional martial art developed on Okinawa. It utilizes dynamic offensive and defensive techniques. Karate consists of basics (blocking, striking, punching and stances), kata (forms – a sequence of pre-arranged techniques), self-defense application and sparring.
For children depending on their maturity and development, age 6 and older is a good time start. For adults any time is a good time to start.
Anyone who is dedicated, patient and willing to work hard and sweat.
There is not a set time on a student’s progress. Progress is self paced. The more you practice the faster you will improve.
We practice in bare feet and wear a karate gi (uniform). For the first few lessons it is recommended that you wear athletic clothing.
Yes, please feel free to watch your child in class, we only ask that you keep any distractions and noise to a minimum.
